Benjamin Moore currently has opening for Senior Scientists.
You will work on cross exploratory teams of experienced senior scientists focused on the next generation of emulsions (Polymers). These teams will rapidly explore new polymers and finishes. Senior scientist team members will compliment each other in their disciplines and their approaches to innovative products.
You must have previous experience in one or all of these specific areas:
Synthesis of associative thickners such as heur and hase asociative thickners
Synthesis of pigment dispersants
Synthesis of emulsion polymers, such as acrylics, vinal acrylics and styrene acrylic polymers.
Additionally, we seek experience in the ability to dentify, explore and prove feasibility of new product chemistries. Possess skill set requirement for innovation or technological exploration. Must be hands-on to quickly develop and refine complex, cross-disciplinary interactions. Must be outwardly focused to capture and apply new technology developments from their industries. Focused on projects with specific expected outcomes. Transfer technology to Product Development labs for formula optimization Thorough knowledge of chemistry in an area of product development. Outstanding communication (written and verbal) skills.
Experience Required:
Requires an advanced degree in chemistry or chemical engineering, Ph.D preferred or equivalent experience. 10 plus years of experience in emulsion polymerization in an R&D environment, previous experience in in architectural coatings and paints a plus. Position requires a high degree of diversity, analysis, innovation and creativity. Projects assigned will be challenging, complex and demanding in nature. Team oriented with excellent organizational skills.
