Job Description:

Job Description: This is a full-time, tenure-track Generalist counseling position, starting with the Fall 2010 semester, and requires a full range of counseling skills including personal, crisis, career, and academic counseling for students from different backgrounds, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, age, race, religion, or disability; experience or familiarity with personal development, individual counseling issues and life/career goal setting preferred; experience working with developmental studies programs and students desired.

Duties include: develop, coordinate, and deliver programs for developmental students in collaboration with appropriate faculty; collaborate with the Student Success Area, Director of First Year Experiences, the Developmental Studies Alliance, and the Achieving the Dream Committees; provide short-term personal counseling to students as appropriate; provide crisis counseling and crisis management when necessary; provide career counseling to students; provide information, answer questions, and assist students in the resolution of academic or College issues and concerns; assist with the development of processes for academic advisement and provide academic advisement and counseling; assist with new student College Planning sessions; provide transfer counseling to students; assist faculty and staff in handling student problems, academic concerns, educational issues and behavioral concerns; work with the Director of the Career and Counseling Center to develop a work schedule including one evening per week; perform other duties as assigned by the Director of the Career and Counseling Center.

Requirements: Master's degree in Counseling; excellent interpersonal and verbal skills.

Immediate Supervisor: Director, Career & Counseling Center

Salary Range: Minimum starting salary $51,933 plus a comprehensive competitive benefit package.

Hours/Start Date: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (to include one evening) with a start date of August, 2010.
