Information Technology Services (ITS) a service organization that provides technology support for The University of Iowa campus, is accepting applications for an ICON (Iowa Courses Online course management system) Support Team member in the Instructional Services unit within the Campus Technology Department. This position will be filled at the Information Technology Support Services (Level II-PC55 pay grade 08).
Duties and responsibilities of the successful candidate include:
· Support ICON (currently powered by Desire2Learn) for campus
· Manage daily ICON system administration tasks and issues
· Provide administrative and end user support to faculty/staff users (including Collegiate Administrators)
· Work with staff in other units (e.g., ITS Help Desk, collegiate IT support units) to ensure ICON support for campus
· Manage ICON Graduate Assistant staff in both day-to-day and long-range efforts
· Administer TurnItIn solution for campus. Provide user support as necessary. Maintain vendor relationship
· Administer the ICON learning object repository (LOR). Evaluate current solution and scan the market for potential solutions
· Support Instructional Services Training Coordinator in the preparation of training materials; deliver training as needed (one-on-one, small group, and large group training)
· Evaluate competing versions of current projects
· Investigate/evaluate new hardware and software solutions, both as they may integrate with ICON and independently, and their application to instruction
· Provide input in determining new and emerging technologies and their potential applications
Basic qualifications:
· Bachelor's Degree in Education/Instructional Design Technologies, Computer Science or related field or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience may serve to meet these minimum requirements
· Experience (typically 1-3 years) administering a course management system
· Experience (typically 1-3 years) working with and providing technical training (one-on-one, small group and formal presentations) for higher education faculty and staff in the area of course management systems
· Familiarity with web development tools such as HTML editors (e.g., Dreamweaver), CSS, Desire2learn
· Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills, systematic ability, technical curiosity, and self-motivation
· Ability to work independently while managing and prioritizing multiple tasks
Other desirable qualifications:
· Troubleshooting end-user problems
· Familiarity with Flash, Acrobat, Photoshop, Fireworks, digital audio/video applications.
· A knowledge of ICON integrations including OSIRUS, Turnitin
· Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced challenging environment
· Familiarity with University of Iowa policies and procedures
