Information Technology Services (ITS) a service organization that provides technology support for The University of Iowa campus, is accepting applications for a Help Desk Consultant to provide technical support to students, faculty and staff. The position will be filled as an Information Technology Support Services - Level I, (PC54, pay grade 06) in the Campus Technology Services Department within ITS. Job duties would include providing front-line technical support to students, faculty and staff at The University of Iowa, using the Help Desk call tracking system to effectively track customer requests and problems, maintaining and facilitating the use of the Knowledge Management System (creating, updating and reviewing content, working to improve the system and promote its use), staying current on all relevant operating systems, applications, technologies and ITS services, participating in on-going projects such as the development of new services, improving processes and procedures and rolling out new technologies within the Help Desk. Some 24x7 on-call support is required. This position requires: · Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience may meet this minimum requirement. · Experience providing front-line technical support. · Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to identify root causes. · A great customer service attitude. · Excellent verbal and written communication skills. · Excellent team work skills and the ability to work with others. · Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office and various Internet technologies. · Strong technical knowledge of e-mail technologies and applications. · Experience with Mac OS X. Desired qualifications include: · Experience with call tracking systems. · Experience with knowledge management systems. · Experience in web design and development (Dreamweaver, FrontPage, HTML, etc.). · Technical knowledge of antivirus software and virus-related issues. · Technical knowledge of spyware and anti-spyware products. · Ability to lead projects and small teams.
