This position works jointly for Academic Computing and Library Services on the planning, installation, and maintenance of library computer systems, equipment and technology.
DUTIES: Maintaining and supporting the integrated library system; plan and implement system upgrades; work collaboratively with Academic Computing to explore library-related technologies; assist with the proxy server; assist with database and e-journal connections; assist the library with developing and maintaining portal and web content as needed; provide technical assistance and training to library staff on the ILS and other systems; install, configure and troubleshoot supported operating systems and software on college owned equipment; stay current on campus technology changes or problems; configure and troubleshoot wireless end-user devices; configure and support PDAs including cloning and troubleshooting; research and evaluate resources to help solve problems and keep our equipment/software trouble free; prepare and maintain documentation as requested; other duties as assigned.
Requirements: Completion of two-years of college level coursework in computer science, informational technology or related field and/or the following: two years experience working with systems in an academic library is preferred; a knowledge of MARC record formats and database management is preferred; demonstrate hardware/software/wireless knowledge in a variety of configurations for PCs; experience in PC operating systems (Windows XP, Windows 2003); evidence of ongoing professional development and increasing level of responsibility; must be able to interact well and work collaboratively with others; demonstrated leadership in project management; working knowledge of SQL or MySQL; the work schedule can be flexible and will require some weekend and evening hours as needed.
Salary: 16A - minimum starting salary $35,773
Hours/Start Date: Monday through Friday - 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (work schedule can be flexible and will require some weekend and evening hours as needed)
